Panic Attack: A Real Disease with a Sense of Unreality

It’s like having a heart attack. Your hands feel numb, your heart beat faster, that you have difficulty breathing and a feeling of terror strike suddenly and repeatedly, without any warning. A panic attack is almost a violent experience. You can feel disconnected from reality. In between attacks, there is fear and anxiety, it will happen again.
Panic attacks are symptoms of panic disorder, a type of anxiety disorders affect millions of adults in the U.S. today. It usually develops in late teens and early adulthood, and can hit twice as many women as men. However, not everyone who experiences panic attacks develop panic disorder. While the exact cause of panic disorder may not yet known, the researchers suspect a combination of biological and environmental factors may contribute to the development of the disease. It includes family history, stressful life events, drug and alcohol abuse and thought patterns that exaggerated normal bodily reactions.
Although panic attacks usually a feeling of unreality, it is a real disease that can be treated successfully. It can be a truly frightening experience, and can occur at any time, even during sleep. An attack generally peaks within 10 minutes, but some symptoms may last much longer. During a panic attack, your heart is pounding and you feel sweaty, weak, faint, or dizzy. Your hands may tingle or feel numb, and you might feel flushed or chilled. You can include nausea, chest pain or smothering sensations, a feeling of unreality, or fear of impending doom or loss of control.
If it faces a problem or situation, people experience anxiety. It is quite normal to be anxious about stressful situations. However, someone who is suffering from a panic disorder at the same pressure with an exaggerated physiological response to respond. This panic attack makes it more frightening to happen because despite the absence of danger, nor episodes at any time, anywhere. It can happen during a walk in the park, chilling with friends, shopping at the mall, and even in the middle of the night while you are in deep sleep.
Fear of another attack usually follows a person suffers from panic attacks. Such anxiety can significantly impair daily activities. There are people who refuse to leave their homes in fear always would leave vulnerable to such attacks, or they try to prevent the attacks earlier recalls. Over time they may develop other psychiatric disorders or phobias such as agoraphobia or fear, beyond known and safe environment.
Panic disorder is often caused by other serious problems such as depression, drug abuse or alcoholism associated. The good news is that there are a variety of effective treatments for panic disorder are available. Some of the better known treatments as psychotherapy or talk therapy, cognitive therapy or biofeedback. These methods have been developed to enable a person to change in response to triggers. Other treatment options include the use of antidepressants and beta blockers. A change in lifestyle, such as limiting caffeine and with a daily fitness regime can help to reverse the symptoms of panic disorder.
